September 2007, with a love of food and a dream of a fantastic new restaurant, the plan for the all new Twigs began. With our staff’s constant support and input, Twigs Tavern and Grille was sure to be a highlight in Rochester dining. The question was, what could we bring to the table to create a unique dining experience for Rochester?
It was a trip to Spain with their children, Abby and Sean, when the menu direction became ultimately clear.
New American Fare at Twigs
With dishes inspired from many cultures as well as traditional American food with a flare, Twigs offers an array of unique entrees and small plates with many ethnic influences to tickle the taste buds, satisfy, and delightfully surprise our guests beyond any of their expectations. We serve the most fresh and delicious items in many portion sizes so our guests can try numerous dishes with interesting flavors in a single dining experience. Our entire menu is a casual blend of amazing tasting food and is designed for easy sampling and sharing. We encourage guests to personalize their dining experience and customize it as they see fit.
Hot Rock Grilling
It was a tiny little restaurant in Barcelona that our concierge said we had to try. Steak on a Rock was the restaurant's specialty and it was incredible! We knew we had to bring it to Twigs. When we arrived home, we could hardly contain ourselves as we explained it to my parents, Jim and Lorraine McPeak. They supported us completely and believed we had something Rochester would love.
Hot Rock grilling is fun, different, and very social. Like fondue without the oil. We serve sliced Babcock pork, steak, and seafood and you cook it at your tabletop to your liking on a 650 degree granite rock. We offer numerous gourmet dipping sauces for your meat and seafood. You will love it!
Small Plates and Twigs Strips
Guests can choose a couple of Small Plates at a time and we deliver their selections to the table fresh, as they are prepared. When guests are ready, they can order more. Our small plates portion of the menu includes Pierogies, a specialty dumpling originating in Poland, Hummus, a Mediterranean and middle Eastern favorite, and Shrimp Nachos which have a Mexican-Caribbean flavor. Our chicken kabobs and Baked Feta are both Greek, while the Babcock pork quesadilla has a Mexican-American twist with its homemade sweet jalapeno BBQ sauce. Our vegetable Frittis and our Butternut Squash Ravioli are Italian.
Another small-portioned section of our menu is our Twigs Strips. A thing pastry crust is topped with unique and unexpected toppings, then cut into strips. The flavor combinations of our Twigs Strips are surprising and truly delicious.
Entrees and Specialties
We have really delicious entrees. Each recipe was extensively taste tested by many people, tweaked as needed, and the final dishes are fantastic. We also have two really unique specialties including Country Captain Chicken, which has East Indian influences and is Michelle Salz's favorite childhood recipe that her mother has been making for our 35 years. The Smoked Meatloaf, an American favorite with a twist, is MIchelle's father's recipe that her father makes for Sunday dinners for the family.
Babcock Pork
We are so excited that our family's pork is being served at Twigs. Babcock pork is superior in taste, quality, and tenderness even though Babcock's animals are never administered growth stimulants, hormones or injected with any chemicals.
Pricing
Because we want our guests to dine with us often, our menu has very reasonable pricing with hopes our guests will come back any day of the week, every week. Our wine list has been created with many selections that are known but many that are not in other Rochester restaurants. We have priced bottles very fairly so guests can enjoy wine without breaking the pocketbook!
Awards
We were just awarded "Peoples Choice" for the March of Dimes Chef's Auction. Our Butternut Ravioli was "Entree Winner" for the March of Dimes Chef's Auction last year, and it was just announced as one of "Rochester Magazine's Top Five Entrees" in the city.
Ambiance
Warm with rich mahogany wood, cinnamon-red walls, a bar glowing in amber twigs and a huge cozy rock fireplace, we want our guests to come, feel relaxed, and have fun. Enjoy the fantastic music which is mainly from the 60’s. If you have a favorite, let us know and we will add it to the playlist.
